Contemplation for the day:
“If you want to change the world,
first try to improve and bring about change within yourself.
That will help change your family.
From there it just gets bigger and bigger.
Everything we do has some effect,
some impact.”

Today
This morning’s walk along the beach took us in a southern direction.
It was a perfect, balanced walk
in that today is filled with all the fine hues of blue.
The turquoise waters and the dark blue skies to the north
were threatening to break open.
The light blue wide expanse to the south
had gentle breezes and transparent
wisps of clouds.
The beaches were less crowded,
more open,
flat, even….quiet
the kind of beach you can lose yourself in
as if walking within a forest of trees and
getting lost in the silence.
Today’s beach gave way to
losing myself in thoughts
and other places.
With no rocks beneath my feet,
only white sand,
and the occasional gentle lapping of water over
my shoeless foot,
all the while skimming the surfaces,
my eyes left their humble abode
with wings
and traveled to beautiful, distant places
in the clouds of imagination.
The pastel colours washed over me,
and the salty breezes buoyed me up
into a place full of light-filled,
formless forms
gently lifting veils,
blowing in the breezes
of timelessness.
It was a perfect walk today
for my soul and my feet.
Swimming in turquoise is heavenly.
Walking on sand is enlivening.
Heading off and drifting into the expanses
of one’s mind
is freeing and healing.
For this, I am grateful and at peace
this lovely last Thursday of February.
